POLICE – Body of drowning victim recovered near Tobiano marina

The body of a drowning victim has been recovered from water near Tobiano Bruker Marina on Kamloops Lake.
On Aug. 23, 2025, just after 5 p,m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP detachment responded to a report that a swimmer had been in distress before going under water. Despite efforts of those nearby, the Thompson Rivers University international student had disappeared into the deep water and did not resurface.
Tobiano Fire Rescue, Kamloops Search and Rescue, Kamloops Fire Rescue along with the BC Conservation Service all attended and attempted to recover the body, said RCMP Cpl. Dana Napier.
The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was called and removed the body.
The B.C. Coroners Service has been notified and is also investigating.
