POLICE – Fight during Ribfest results in minor injuries, arrest of one man

A fight led to a man being taken into custody Saturday afternoon (Aug. 9, 2025).

RCMP said that just before 2 p.m., officers attended the 300-block of Victoria Street during Rib Fest in response to the report.  A man was allegedly interfering with the police investigation and pushed a police officer; the man was then arrested.

“Due to the proactive patrols associated with the operational plan to respond to Rib Fest issues, police were able to respond quickly and maintain public safety,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley.

“As part of the plan we had additional frontline officers proactively patrolling the downtown core throughout the weekend.”

Some minor injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this incident is asked to please call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-25978.
