Kamloops RCMP are looking for more information and witnesses related to a “suspicious” fire near Strathcona Park yesterday afternoon.

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, just before 4 p.m., police were called to a fire near the intersection of Arbutus Street and Powers Road to assist Kamloops Fire Rescue at the park which had burned about 100 metres x 100 metres before being contained by KFR.

“We are treating this incident as suspicious and have identified a person of interest in relation to this fire,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.

“We will continue to work with KFR to establish the cause of the fire, and if it is related to any other fires in the downtown area, which is all part of the ongoing investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at file 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-21802.
