POLICE – Second-degree murder charge laid after two-year investigation

 A Kamloops man has been charged with second degree murder after a two-year investigation.

 On Sunday, May 21, 2023, just after 6 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers and paramedics were called to the 800-block of Valhalla Drive for a report of a women suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to hospital and later succumbed to her injuries.

On May 28, 2025, Austin Alexander Neil Eyres was charged with second degree murder in relation to the death of Chaneill Satow stemming from the May 21, 2023 incident. Eyres is currently in custody on an unrelated matter.

“This investigation was a priority for the Kamloops Serious Crime Unit who worked diligently to advance the case for the past two years and present it to Crown Counsel for charge assessment.   This charge is the culmination of a thorough investigation and the resources that were allocated to it,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley, OIC of the Kamloops detachment.
