There will be an increased police presence at TRU this week and through the weekend due to an undisclosed threat.

Police first received a report of an unconfirmed threat to the university campus back on March 26, 2025, just before 1 p.m.  The Kamloops RCMP General Investigation Support Team (GIST) and the Serious Crime Unit (SCU) have been investigating the nature and source of the threat since then to determine the reliability “while being mindful that threats can be made to create disruption and to achieve notoriety.”

RCMP are working with TRU Community Safety and Emergency Management Risk and Safety Services as the investigation continues.

“As part of a combined response, we are working with TRU Safety Services to have an increased presence in and around the campus over the next few days.

“We are asking people to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.
