POLICE – Man’s body found at scene of fire on North Shore

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is appealing to the public for CCTV and witnesses to assist in a sudden death investigation.

Just before 2 a.m. today (Monday, April 7, 2025) BC Ambulance personnel came across a fire at the corner of 8th Street and Tranquille Road in Kamloops. Paramedics attempted to extinguish the flames while awaiting the arrival of Kamloops Fire and Rescue.

Fire fighters extinguished the fire and discovered the body of an adult man, who has yet to be identified.

“It is too early to determine the cause of the blaze or confirm whether criminality is suspected,” said S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the Kamloops RCMP.

“At this point, we are asking area residents to contact police if they have CCTV cameras that capture the building at the north west corner of Tranquille Road and 8 Street (52 Tranquille Road), or the nearby areas.”

If you were in the area between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Monday morning and have any information, you are encouraged to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment and cite file 2025-9989.
