At about 3:15 a.m.today, police received a report that a person was at the hospital with serious injuries following an incident on the North Shore several hours earlier. According to the report, on Thursday, March 13, around 9:30 p.m., the victim had been in a grey Volkswagen on the 700-block of Tranquille Road when an altercation occurred with a group of people.

“During the altercation, one of the passengers in the vehicle was struck with an object and suffered a serious injury, requiring emergency surgery,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP detachment spokesperson.

“The victim, a teenager, remains in hospital. Details surrounding his condition are unknown at this time.”

A police presence is expected in the area today as officers, including those from the Forensic Identification Services and General Investigation Support Services Team, gather evidence which may be related.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed, captured security video or dash camera footage, or been involved in the confrontation, to please come forward as soon as possible,” said Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the Kamloops RCMP.

“If you have a business in the area, please review your CCTV from that night, paying particular attention for the grey Volkswagen, to help us further the investigation into what transpired.”
