POLICE – Brawl erupts in nightclub after employee confronts a patron

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to about 339 calls for service from Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, to 9 a.m. on Monday Feb. 24. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Police presence for disturbances

Multiple police officers could be seen on the 400-block of Grandview Avenue Saturday night following disturbance reports at a residence.

On Feb. 22, 2025, around 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the address for reports of people yelling and the sound of items smashing. Police attended to discover a dispute over property.

The parties were spoken with by police.

Brawl downtown, arrests made

A person was assaulted and four suspects were taken into custody after a nightclub employee allegedly tried to stop a patron from leaving with open liquor.

On Feb. 23, 2025, around 1:35 a.m., Kamloops RCMP  were conducting proactive patrols downtown, when violence broke out on the 100-block of 5th Avenue. According to the report, a staff member attempted to stop the patron, who then began fighting; three other people became involved. An employee was injured during the assault.

The suspects attempted to flee, but were quickly located and arrested by various police officers. They were lodged in cells, then released with a court date and conditions. Charge recommendations are anticipated.

Stolen truck located, burned

Shortly after police received a theft of motor vehicle report, the vehicle was found on fire.

On Monday Feb. 24, 2025, just after 4 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the 2800-block of Valleyview Drive where a resident reported he woke up to find his 2007 black Ford F350 missing from his driveway.

Minutes later, a truck was located abandoned and burning on the Hook Road off-ramp. The blaze was extinguished by Pritchard Fire Department and the vehicle was confirmed to be stolen.
