POLICE – Victim of weapon assault taken to hospital

A large police presence was visible on 12th Street around 8:45 a.m. today (Monday, Feb. 24, 2025) as officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon.

Multiple Kamloops RCMP officers were called to an address on the 700-block of 12th Street, where a person was assaulted with a weapon and went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  One person was arrested on scene.

“The police response was still active and ongoing at the time of this release,” said Cpl. Dana Napier mid-morning.

“Residents are asked to please use caution in areas where officers are attending and avoid the area if possible.”  As a result, schools in the area were put on a brief “hold and secure” out of an abundance of caution.

If anyone has information related to the investigation, please contact police at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-5160.
