POLICE – Suspect arrested after family awakened by break and enter attempt

A Kamloops man was taken into custody after a family woke up to a break and enter into their home.

On Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, just before 3:40 a.m., Kamloops were called to the 1200-block of Kimberly Crescent in response to a 911-call in which a man and a woman could be heard yelling for help. Officers arrived on the scene and located a man inside a fenced yard, who appeared to be trying to get through the window of an entry door.

“A physical struggle was observed between the homeowners and the man, and police officers were able to pull him away and secure him,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

Kevin Edward Young, 36, of Kamloops, was held for a bail hearing on charges of break and enter into a dwelling, mischief, and failure to comply with a court order. He was remanded into custody, with a next court appearance scheduled for Feb. 5, 2025.
