POLICE – Alert owner helps officers catch suspect in theft of truck

A North Shore man who heard his truck being stolen refused to stay idle and instead, helped police with its safe recovery.

On Jan. 28, 2025, around 9:15 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report of the theft, in which an older model white, blue, and green GMC pickup truck had just been taken from the 100-block of Angus Street. They stopped the stolen vehicle on Kicking Horse Drive in Juniper Ridge and arrested its driver.

“Thanks to the updates and information provided by the truck’s owner, frontline officers were able to quickly and safely take a suspect into custody without issue,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

The suspect was later released with a court date. Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment process.

Anyone who witnessed or has information that may be related, including dash cam or security video footage is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-2611.
