POLICE – Youth threatened with firearm while walking on trail near Capilano

An incident reported near Capilano Drive has police again  turning to the public for video and information.

On Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, around 7 p.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a call for service in which a youth had allegedly been threatened with a firearm while on a trail around 4 p.m. that day.

“Upon receiving the report, officers surveyed the area, obtained statements, and canvassed for video,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn today (Jan. 2, 2025).

“We are turning to the public in an attempt to obtain more security or dash camera footage, witnesses, and information that could help further the investigation.”

According to the report, the youth was walking on a trail near Capilano Drive when they encountered a man sitting on a log, who produced a firearm and threatened the youth with it, then chased the youth onto the roadway.

The man is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • Brown mustache and beard

Wearing all black including:

  • A toque
  • Medical mask
  • Fanny pack

No similar reports have been received since.
