POLICE – Suspect arrested after standoff at Rose Hill Road address

A suspect was arrested today (Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024) after a standoff with police that lasted several hours.

Around 7 a.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP officers were called to an address on the 3000-block of Rose Hill Road for a report of an assault in progress. The officers confirmed the victim had left the residence and was safe, but that the suspect may have access to weapons, including firearms.

“Due to the perceived risk presented by the possible presence of weapons, the assistance of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team was requested to help keep the situation as safe as possible,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

A suspect surrendered in the early afternoon and was safely taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information who may be related is asked to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2024-32728.
