Police would like to talk to a man seen near a stolen truck.

On Sept. 17, 2024, Kamloops RCMP received a report of a Dodge Ram pickup truck stolen from Kelly Douglas Road.

“The next day, the truck was located behind a building on Glenwood Drive and surveillance video captured an image of a man observed driving it,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

“Police are releasing the image in the hopes that someone will identify him and help further the investigation.”

The man was wearing brown overalls, a black t-shirt, and sunglasses on his head. He was spotted in the area around 6 p.m. last Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024.

Anyone who recognizes the man or has information related to this investigation, is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-31014.

  1. The Kamloops business community survey showed that crime has cost local businesses nearly one million dollars in losses due to crime last year.

According to Kelly Hall, statistics are for losers (and presumably council agreed because they didn’t admonish him for that official declaration).

But not only do the statistics show a severe problem, but so do the anecdotes. What evidence is cool enough for Coun. Hall? What evidence is worthy of being approved by the jock locker room mentality?

Council still is not taking any steps to enforce bylaws relating to loitering, encampments and drug use in public spaces.

Ramming an AAP through and borrowing millions is easy. Holding a press conference on city hall steps and calling it democracy in action is easy. What’s not easy, is fixing the mess on the streets. The same mess that people visiting the PAC, and businesses around it continue to suffer through.

Lets see if council has what it takes to fix this, or if they’re inclined to keep putting their heads in the sand.
