POLICE – Appeal for information on seriously injured man re-issued

Almost a month after a man was located roadside with life-threatening injuries, police are making another appeal to the public for information.

On Aug. 30, 2024, just before 7 a.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP officers were called to the Yellowhead Highway and Paul Lake Road where a person was discovered with obvious injuries. He was transported to hospital and, as of today (Sept. 25, 2024), remains in serious condition.

The investigation into how the man ended up roadside with such severe injuries is ongoing, but it is suspected he may be the victim of an assault and received his injuries hours before he was located.  Shortly after the incident, on Sept. 5, police made a request to the public for more information, which has been unsuccessful so far.

“The man’s injuries are very serious and we’re reissuing our appeal to the public with hope that someone will recall something that may be related,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

“Maybe someone saw a suspicious vehicle driving or stopped in the area that day or the night before. Maybe someone remembers passing something on the side of the highway and now realize it could be related. Or maybe someone has other information directly connected to how this man’s injuries occurred and is ready to talk. If you think you know something, please reach out as soon as possible.”

It’s unknown how long the man has been in Kamloops, but he is believed to have previously been in the Terrace area.

The victim is described as:

  • Caucasian male is his 50s
  • 5’6
  • Medium build
  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes

Anyone with information, including dash camera and security video that could be related, is asked to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2024-28673.
