Luna the cat has been safely located but police are still on the lookout for a suspect involved in her kidnapping.

To help further the investigation into the cat theft, Kamloops RCMP is releasing an image of a woman and a white Dodge van in hopes that someone from the community will be able to identify her and contact police.

Luna the cat was stolen from her backyard on the 800-block of St. Paul Street around 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 11, 2024.

“Security video confirmed that Luna’s disappearance wasn’t an accident,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn. “The video revealed that she had been coaxed from her backyard, into the alleyway behind her home, and taken by a woman in a white Dodge van.”

Fortunately, Luna was located earlier this week on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, across Kamloops in Brock. A family friend was in the area of Bossert Street when she recognized Luna in the neighbourhood and contacted her owner.

Luna is a black and white cat of no particular breed and her owner is unsure of why she was stolen.

If anyone has information related to the van or suspect, or is the person who took Luna, contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-30399
