Michael Grenier today (Sept. 13, 2024) officially withdrew as a candidate for the Cariboo-Chilcotin riding in the Oct. 19 election. He had been nominated to represent BC United in the election. Here’s his statement:
Dear Friends,
Following recent decisions of BC United Party leadership, and after careful consideration with my campaign team and fellow BCU candidates, I’ve made the difficult decision to withdraw my candidacy for the Cariboo-Chilcotin riding in the upcoming Provincial election.
I’m deeply grateful for your enthusiastic support and for sharing our campaign with family and friends. I especially want to acknowledge the tireless efforts of my wife Doreen, our family, and our Chair Alp Isin, who built remarkable momentum in a short time.
Connecting with constituents at community events and on their doorsteps has been a privilege. Thank you for sharing the issues that matter most to your families. I’m also thankful for the encouragement of my friends, MLAs Todd Stone, Peter Milobar, Jackie Tegart, Coralee Oakes and Shirley Bond, and fellow TNRD Director Dough Haughton.
I extend my best wishes to the excellent BC United candidates continuing as Independents. They offer a chance for stronger constituency-driven representation and potentially, a shared balance of power in the Legislative Assembly.
I also encourage Cariboo-Chilcotin constituents to consider Lorne Doerkson, the Conservative Party of British Columbia candidate. Lorne assured me of his commitment to represent all constituents of this vast riding, including newly integrated TNRD communities in the south.
As Area J Electoral Director, I will continue to advocate for local government initiatives that improve the lives of TNRD residents. I look forward to collaborating with Provincial and Federal representatives to complete our several ongoing projects.
Sincerely, Mike
