POLICE – Several arrested, released in connection with 13th Street incident

A large police presence was visible on 13th Street on the weekend as part of an assault investigation.

On Friday Aug. 23, 2024, around 7:15 p.m., members of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit-BC (CFSEU) Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) were in Kamloops assisting with increased crime suppression and presence efforts when they located a victim with obvious injuries outside a home on the 1100-block of 13th Street.

Based on the investigation that followed, assistance from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (SED ERT) was requested to clear the residence and remove its occupants. A police presence was visible on the block while a search warrant was obtained and executed.

“Targeting those who are known to be part of the Kamloops drug trafficking scene continues to be a focus for the Kamloops RCMP Detachment, as we work to suppress and reduce the violence and crime we know is associated to it,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley, Kamloops RCMP detachment commander.

““With the support of our partners including the CFSEU-BC UGET, our presence and enforcement efforts remain steadfast, from the frontline onward, to hold offenders accountable and make our community safer still.”

Several people were arrested and later released, two with conditions and a court date. Charges have not been laid but police said the investigation will likely result in a referral to the BC Prosecution Service for charge assessment.

The victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.

The investigation is ongoing, with the support of frontline officers, the General Investigations Support Team, and Targeted Enforcement Unit.

Anyone with information or video that may be related is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000.

  1. With so many drug addicts and associated services, it’s little surprise Kamloops shot to the top of the charts. The drug trade is lucrative and the customers are endless.

Word is another flop house is being constructed in town. Burnaby residents had the sense to protest in droves when council and BC Housing proposed yet another neighbourhood flop house next to your children, loved ones and seniors. Crime and disorder always increases around flop houses.

Council and BC Housing will keep riding roughshod over you until you until you stop taking it. Until then, expect more flop houses, no consultation, more crime, more customers, and more gangsters.
