POLICE – Two charged in TEU drug trafficking investigation

A Kamloops Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) project that began last year has led to two men facing a total of 17 charges.

On May 1 and 2, 2024, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s TEU executed two arrest warrants related to drug trafficking and firearms offences.

The charges followed an investigation that included drug and weapon seizures from a residence on Stagecoach Drive during a search warrant execution on May 3, 2023. At the time of the seizures, those arrested were released as part of the ongoing investigative process.

“The continued investigative process related to that significant seizure from last May has led to the charge approvals anticipated at the time, thanks to the hard work and steadfast dedication of our TEU and supporting officers,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley.

“We hope that these charge approvals help encourage those in the community to continue to report suspected criminal activity, and feel confident in the investigative process and its subsequent results.

“The TEU’s mandate includes focusing on local drug traffickers and those associated to presenting the highest level of violence and risk to public safety, which continues to be a strategic priority of the Kamloops RCMP.”

Other search warrants recently executed by the TEU are unrelated to these charges and remain in the investigative process.

Cameron Ronald Ross Cole, 40, and Shane Bradley Cameron, 44, both of Kamloops are charged with two counts each of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl and methamphetamine; and four counts of firearm offences including possessing a 9 mm Polymer80 model and a 9mm glock model semi-automatic pistol with readily assessible ammunition and without a license or registration; and for possession of a restricted and prohibited firearm while prohibited.

Shane Cameron is also charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Both were arrested without incident, released with conditions and will be monitored by police and a bail supervisor. They are scheduled to appear in court on June 3, 2024.
