CITY HALL – New contract with CUPE provides for four per cent increases
The City of Kamloops and CUPE Local 900 have reached a new two-year collective agreement effective Jan. 1, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2025.
Today’s (April 24, 2024) announcement comes at the same time as the union and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District announced their own new two-year contract.
The agreement with the City includes wage adjustments of four per cent for the first year and four per cent for the second year, in addition to a four per cent cost of living increase effective Jan. 1, 2024.
The City said in a news release the contract is reflective of collective agreements recently ratified throughout the province and is already included in 2024-2029 financial plan.
“The Union and the City have worked collaboratively for an agreement that acknowledges the changes in the workforce climate since the last contract was ratified in 2019,” said ccting CAO Byron McCorkell.
“We are pleased with the outcome and feel it continues to build a mutually beneficial relationship with our union partners.”
The City of Kamloops has about 900 CUPE staff members.

4% for wages and 4% for “inflation” with widespread low productivity. As a self-employed person I find that upsetting to say the least.
