POLICE – Two suspects in custody after assault, threat with a firearm

A large police presence on the North Shore led to the arrest of two suspects connected to an assault with a weapon report received earlier today.

On Wednesday Feb. 28, 2024, around 12:30 p.m., multiple Kamloops RCMP officers were called to an address on the 1700-block of Parkcrest Avenue, where a suspect had allegedly fled in a truck after assaulting and threatening a person with what appeared to be a firearm.

“The primary suspect was known by police to have a history of violence and was wanted on an unendorsed warrant related to a previous robbery in Kamloops,” said RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley.

“Thanks to a quick and strategic multi-unit response, officers were able to locate and arrest two suspects — both of which are known to police to be associated with criminal activity — and safely take them into custody, with reduced risk to the general public and officers involved.”

Both suspects are being held in police custody as part of the investigative process, which remains in its early stages. Charge recommendation is anticipated.

If anyone has information related to this incident, including video or dash camera footage, contact police as soon as possible at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-5974.
