POLICE – Suspect arrested after van fire on St. Paul Street

A Kamloops man was scheduled to appear in court today in connection to a suspicious vehicle fire reported on Friday.

On Feb. 23, 2024, just before 8 a.m., Kamloops RCMP were contacted by Kamloops Fire Rescue, which had just attended a van fire on the 700-block of St. Paul Street.

“As part of the investigation, police officers quickly identified and located a suspect nearby, on the 300-block of St. Paul Street and took him into custody,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

Troy Mitchell Felix, 27, of Kamloops is charged with one count of arson related to intentionally or recklessly causing damage or explosion to property; and one count of theft of a portable battery booster. He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. His next court appearance was scheduled for today, Feb. 28, 2024.

Anyone with information or video that may be connected to this investigation and has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-5467.
