POLICE – Woman arrested after stolen vehicle collides with police cruiser

A Kamloops woman remains in custody today (Jan. 16, 2024) after a stolen vehicle collided with a police cruiser Friday afternoon.

Just before 4 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2024, Kamloops RCMP were called to the 600-block of Alberni Avenue for a report that a vehicle had been just been stolen from that location.

“Officers tracked the vehicle to an area in the 600-block of Kamloopa Road,” said Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet.

“The driver allegedly collided with a police vehicle while attempting to evade capture. She was arrested without incident after the vehicle she was driving became disabled.”

Shaina Juarez, 23, of Kamloops, has been charged with two counts of fail to comply with a court order and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, and theft of a motor vehicle.

She is expected to appear in Kamloops court today.

Anyone who was a witness to the incident and has not already spoken with police is asked to contact the T’Kemlups Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2024-1184.
