LETTER – A giant hole in the City bucket leaks a lot of money

Re: EDITORIAL – Stop complaining about the tax hike; the days of 2% are over

Dear armchair mayor.  There is a giant hole in the bucket where all the money is leaking out.  COK.

I am an equipment operator who worked for Highways and the same union for three years. So I know that you make three more dollars an hour if you are in a piece of equipment rather then a pickup.  Which is why you see plow trucks on the North Shore doing nothing.

The cost to change blades on your wing plow and underbody is minimum $300 a blade. I know because that was part of my job. I have seen the waterworks truck sitting at McArthur Island at 3:20 with three guys sitting there texting.

  1. It’s well known that municipal union workers park their vehicles and do nothing regularly.

Stop playing games with our money. How dare you vote in a double digit tax increase when your fiduciary oversight looks like a slice of Swiss cheese.

  2. I mentioned of similar situations for years, the wastefulness is in plain sight but somehow they all get rewarded even more.
