A fire in a former rooming house on Seymour Street West today (Friday, Dec. 15, 2023) had traffic backed up all the way to Overlanders Bridge for a good part of the morning.

The fire erupted before daylight at 91 Seymour West, reducing traffic to one lane as Kamloops Fire Rescue responded with several trucks both on Seymour and on West St. Paul Street.

The blaze is believed to have started in the basement of the boarded-up building. Cause of the fire is being investigated.

KFR knocked down the fire before it spread to other buildings.

One firefighter was slightly injured.

  1. Indeed, there are bigger problems than a burned out vehicle in somebody’s parking lot.
