POLICE – One-year-old baby dies after being struck by vehicle in driveway

A one-year-old baby died Wednesday (Sept. 6, 2023) after apparently being struck by a vehicle in a driveway.

RCMP said today a large police presence was visible on the North Shore yesterday afternoon for a report of a motor vehicle incident involving a baby.

Around 4:50 p.m., Kamloops RCMP officers were called to the 1500-block of Ord Road to assist ambulance.

“The baby was transported to hospital with critical injuries, but sadly did not survive,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn of the Kamloops RCMP detachment.

She said that as the report involves the death of a child, the Serious Crime Unit is assisting officers in the ongoing investigation. The BC Coroners Service is conducting a concurrent investigation.

Anyone who witnessed or has information that may be related and has not yet shared it with police, is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-32329.
