COMMUNITY – Event raises $5,723 for Heffley Creek store after break-in

Store owner Trent Leggett and manager Laurie Sallows (centre) receive cheque from Deb McDougall-Bergstrand.

The Heffley Creek Store has received a boost from the community to help defray the losses incurred in a recent break-in and theft.

A “Store appreciation and fundraising” dinner at the Heffley Creek hall on Aug. 12 raised $5,723 for the store. Community hall association secretary-treasurer Deb McDopugall-Bergstrand presented a cheque for that amount to store owner Trent Leggett and store manager Laurie Sallows.

McDougall-Bergstrand, who organized the dinner, thanked all the sponsors, volunteers and attendees who contributed to its success.
