POLICE – Man beaten by woman with bat, suspect vehicle found at park

Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to 5th Avenue and Seymour Street yesterday morning for a report of a person being beaten with a bat.

On June 26, 2023, around 9:05 a.m., multiple police officers responded to the area where witnesses reported hearing yelling, then observing a woman swing a bat, followed by a man emerge with something in his hand that appeared to be a weapon. The woman got into a vehicle that fled eastbound down the alley toward 5th Avenue.

“Officers located a victim who stated he had been sleeping on the stairs when he was struck and didn’t know who was responsible,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn. “No notable injuries were reported.”

As part of the investigation, a suspect vehicle was located abandoned near Riverside Park and a bat was seized from inside.

Anyone with information or video related to this incident is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-22543.
