CANADA DAY – Food, beer, arts and entertainment at annual festivities

Canada Day festivities at Riverside Park will include a full day of culture, arts, music, and fun.

The day will kick off with the Lions Club pancake breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Canada Day ceremonies will officially take place at the Riverside Park Rotary Bandshell at 11 a.m.

Afterwards, people can spend the day discovering local artisans, enjoying multicultural food, cooling off in the beer garden, checking out the new spray park and accessible playground, and taking in a wide range of performances at the Riverside Park Rotary Bandshell.

The day will wrap up with a fireworks display at dusk (about 9:30 p.m.), weather pending.

The City is encouraging residents to reduce the landfill waste generated by the event. The TRU Sustainability Office, has volunteered to operate compost, plastic, paper, and waste recycling stations in the park. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own tote bags for their purchases at the Art in the Park event.

BC Transit will offer free transit on July 1. Buses will operate with Saturday-level service and select routes will have extended operating hours.

The Bike Valet will be available at the tennis courts to keep bikes safe while people enjoy the event. The City of Kamloops, in association with the Kamloops Cycling Coalition and the Youth Climate Corps B.C., will hosting the supervised service.

To help residents plan their day, a map of the park outlining Art in the Park artisans, Multicultural Society booths, community vendors, beer garden, and entertainment schedule is available online.

The City extended a special thank-you to the Kamloops Multicultural Society and Kamloops Arts Council for organizing the Canada Day festivities and to BCLC, the presenting sponsor. An additional thank-you to the Province of BC for their sponsorship.
