POLICE – Weekend brought more than 400 calls for service to RCMP
The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to about 421 calls for service from Friday June 23, to 9 a.m. on Monday June 26, 2023. Below are some highlights from those reports.
Break and enter into residence
A man was taken into custody when officers attended a residential break and enter and located a suspect who was also wanted on a warrant.
On June 23, 2023, around 10:40 a.m., Kamloops RCMP attended the 2000-block of Muirfield Road, where a resident entered a room in their house and discovered a stranger inside.
Police located a suspect nearby, who was also wanted on a warrant for two counts of breach probation.
A 32-year-old Kamloops man is charged with one count of break and enter to a dwelling, in addition to the charges related to the warrant. He was remanded into custody with his next court appearance scheduled for July 6, 2023.

Weapons report results in arrests
Two men were arrested early Saturday morning when police were called to a report of a person who had been shot at on Schubert Drive.
On June 24, 2023, around 4:20 a.m., numerous Kamloops RCMP officers attended the area where a person alleged they had been shot at several times from a green Nissan Pathfinder. A suspect vehicle was located nearby at Juniper Avenue. Police officers seized weapons including a hatchet, bear spray, and an airsoft pistol as part of the investigation. There was no indication that a real firearm was utilized.
Two men were arrested and released with a court date and conditions. Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment and approval process.

Assault with a bear spray reported
Police are investigating an assault with a weapon report from under the Overlander Bridge on the weekend.
On June 24, 2023, around 2:50 p.m., Kamloops RCMP were called to the 400-block of Victoria Street West where a man had allegedly been assaulted with bear spray by people inside a dark SUV.
The suspect vehicle was described as a black or dark blue Jeep with a roof rack. Anyone who witnessed or has information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-22318.
Weapons seized from bus passenger
A report of a man getting onto a bus with a handgun led to a police presence at McGill Road and Columbia Street West on the weekend.
On June 24, 2023, around 4:20 p.m., Kamloops RCMP officers attended the area in response to the call. Police contacted the bus driver, who assisted in getting the suspect to disembark. As part of the investigation, a pellet gun, knives, and bear spray were located.
The items were relinquished for destruction and the suspect was released without process, to continue on his way.
Vehicle break-in report leads to arrest
Obstruction and breach probation charges were sworn against a Kamloops man following a call to Crescent Drive and Highland Road early today.
On June 26, 2023, around 3:50 a.m., Kamloops RCMP attended the area for a report of a man breaking into vehicles. Police located a suspect nearby, who allegedly provided a false name to police. When his real identity was revealed, the man was discovered to be breaching a probation order.
A 29-year-old Kamloops man was arrested and held for court. He is scheduled to appear in court today, June 26, 2023.
