On Friday June 2, 2023, Kamloops RCMP officers attended a residential address on the 2700-block of Joyce Avenue as part of the investigation. A suspect was arrested and a search warrant was executed in relation to the alleged offence.

The suspect was later released with conditions and a court date. Charge recommendation is anticipated as part of the assessment and approval process.

Impaired driving believed a factor in collision

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in SUV crashing into hillside

On June 3, 2023, around 7:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP officers were called to Westsyde Road at Ord Road, where a grey SUV was reported to have lost control and crashed into the hillside, after narrowly missing another vehicle at the intersection. Two occupants were located and arrested nearby.

The suspect driver was transported to the detachment to provide samples of his breath as part of the impaired driving investigation. Both tests exceeded .08, which is a separate offence in addition to operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

A man was released with a court date and conditions, with charge recommendations anticipated as part of the assessment process.

Man bear sprayed, another arrested on warrant

Police went to a Valleyview gas station on the weekend for a man who had been bear sprayed, and left with a man wanted on a warrant.

On Sunday June 4, 2023, around 12:30 a.m., Kamloops RCMP  attended the 1700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway in response to a request to assist ambulance. The victim said he had been bear sprayed across the street, but did not know the man responsible or have a description of him.

As part of their investigation, officers discovered that another man who was with the victim was wanted on a warrant, and arrested him.

Anyone with information related to the assault with a weapon investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-19651.
