POLICE – Investigation into shooting of 17 wild horses near Walachin continues
RCMP continue to investigate the shooting of 17 wild horses near Walhachin in March and have renewed their call for the public’s help.
The bodies of the horses were found and reported March 10, 2o23.
“Thanks to the community’s active involvement and cooperation, our investigators have received considerable information. We deeply appreciate these efforts,” Cpl. James Grandy said in a news release today.
“However, we’re appealing once more to anyone who may have information that could prove critical in advancing the investigation. We need your help to bring charges against those responsible and ensure they are successfully prosecuted,” the news release said.

“The despair continues to resonate throughout the community, particularly within the Skeetchestn Band. We understand the strong desire for answers and closure.”
Cpl. Cory Lepine, RCMP’s livestock investigator, said the Skeetchestn Band has been a vital partner in the investigation, working closely with police.
“Their cooperation and support have been invaluable.
“We reiterate the importance of the community’s contribution to this ongoing investigation. No piece of information is too insignificant.”
