POLICE – Discovery of bones in Peterson Creek area being investigated

Police are investigating bones discovered Thursday afternoon in the Peterson Creek area.

On Jan. 19, 2023, around 12:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report that led them to an area above the 700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway east of Peterson Creek. Officers attended and contacted the coroner.

“Right now, police are working with the BC Coroners Service to confirm if the bones are human and if so, who they belonged to,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

“From there, the investigation will continue into the circumstances surrounding their discovery.”

Anyone with information regarding this investigation, or who may have come across any other bones in the area, is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2023-2261.

An update will be provided when available, police said.
