POLICE – Tent burns near Tranquille Road but no injuries reported

A report involving a burned tent behind a commercial building on the 400-block of Tranquille Road saw a police presence in the area this morning (Nov. 9, 2022).

Around 9:30 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP officer was patrolling the area when he was approached by a member of the public who was concerned about the resident of a tent that caught fire the night before.

“In order to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure no one had perished in the blaze, police blocked the area and requested Kamloops Fire Rescue attend,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

No signs of human remains were present.

“The fire department also confirmed it extinguished the fire around 3 a.m. that morning and that no one was located in or around the tent,” added Cpl. Evelyn.

Anyone with information related to the fire is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-40344.
