POLICE – Suspects escape capture in pair of stolen vehicle incidents

Kamloops RCMP are looking for suspects in the thefts of a pair of stolen vehicles today (Dec. 30, 2020).

At about  1:30 p.m. a police officer observed a stolen vehicle on Frontage Road in Valleyview near the McDonalds Restaurant.  Shortly after locating the vehicle it began to depart the area.  Members tried to stop the vehicle but it struck a police vehicle, departing at a high rate of speed.

The officer driving the cruiser wasn’t hurt and there was only minor damage to the police car.  A short time later the stolen vehicle was recovered in the Barnhartvale area.

While attempting to stop the vehicle an officer observed a second stolen vehicle in the same vicinity and tried to stop it.  The driver of the second vehicle stopped and fled.  Kamloops Police Dog Services was in the area and tried to track the suspect but was unable to locate him or her.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incidents or have any dash cam footage to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
