POLICE – Video of possible suspect in motel-room stabbing released
Kamloops RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance after a man was stabbed at a motel Wednesday afternoon.
At about 5:15 p.m., police were alerted that a man had been stabbed multiple times. The victim, who is known to police, is being treated at Royal Inland Hospital for his injuries. RCMP members responded and began an investigation that led them to a room at a motel in the 500 block of Columbia Street.
Further investigation revealed that a video captured a suspect leaving the room. RCMP did not reveal which motel was involved, but one media report identified it as the Howard Johnson Inn at 530 Columbia Street, in the area of motels that have seen recent criminal activity and complaints from neighbours and nearby schools.
“We believe this to be a targeted incident as the victim is known to have ties to the local drug trade and we are trying to determine if this has relevance to the investigation,” said Sgt. Darren Michels.
“We are hoping that by releasing this video we will be able to ascertain who this suspect is and his identity will further investigation.”
If anyone is able to help identify the person in the video or has any information in relation to the incident, please call the Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (2477).
