POLICE – Man, bat apprehended after fight breaks out at bus exchange

A disagreement between two men at the North Shore bus exchange today (Oct. 31, 2020) turned into a foot chase with police after a baseball bat became involved.

At 1:40 p.m. Kamloops City RCMP received multiple reports of an assault occurring at the bus exchange at 700 Tranquille Rd.

Several witnesses reported that two men were in a fight in the bus loop and that one of them had a baseball bat. Police arrived within two minutes and the man with the bat ran from the bus loop across Tranquille Road into the residential area with police officers giving chase.

A suspect ran through a couple of residential properties and was apprehended by police and arrested for assault with a weapon.

Police have located and seized the bat and will be collecting statements from the witnesses.

Both victim and the suspect are known to each other and this appears to be an isolated incident, police said. The victim is not cooperating with the police investigation thus far.

  1. I’ll bet there are at least two schools in that area.
