POLICE – Man slashes U District liquor store employee, escapes with cash

Police say the man in this fuzzy surveillance camera photo is the suspect in liquor store robbery.

A liquor store employee was slashed with a knife during a robbery today (March 19, 2020).

At 12:25 p.m. a man entered the U District Liquor Store in the 700 block of McGill Road and slashed the employee before stealing money from the till and running away.  Police set up a perimeter but were unable to locate the man.

Police are asking the public for assistance in locating the suspect.  He is described as Indigenous, wearing glasses, in his 30s and with partially red/orange hair.  He was wearing black and tan boots.

RCMP say if you see him, do not approach him but call 9-1-1.

The employee from the store was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
