POLICE – Two injured when their vehicle collides with truck trailer

Two people were taken to hospital today (Feb. 19, 2020) after a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 1 near the Copperhead Road exit.

The accident happened about 2 a.m. when a small vehicle travelling eastbound appeared to have failed to keep its distance from a semi truck and rear-ended the trailer of the truck, which was travelling in the same direction.

Although the damage to the small vehicle was extensive, the two occupants (a man and a woman in their early 30s, from Kamloops) were taken to Royal Inland Hospital and treated for only minor injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured.

While traffic was disrupted for a brief period, RCMP were able to keep the highway open during the investigation and the following clean up.
