FIRST AVENUE CRASH – TRU president’s statement on death of students

A message from TRU President Brett Fairbairn

It is with great sadness and regret that I have informed our university community that four of our students – current and alumni – were involved in a tragic motor vehicle accident in downtown Kamloops early Sunday morning. The collision took the lives of two of them, and critically injured another.

Brett Fairbairn.

Our deepest thoughts are with their families and loved ones, and on behalf of TRU, I offer our condolences. As these were international students and alumni, our concern is also for our colleagues at TRU World. We grieve with them, along with others – friends, classmates and professors.

Counselling services are in place for students, faculty and staff, and we have encouraged individuals to avail themselves of these resources as needed.

Out of respect for the privacy of families during this time, the university will not be disclosing personal information about the individuals involved in the accident.
