POLICE – RCMP trying to identify youth suspect in connection with grass fire
Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a youth in connection with a grass fire on the North Shore.
Police said today (May 14, 2019) that on Monday at about 5:20 p.m. a passerby witnessed a male teenager start a fire in the grass along the sidewalk on Singh Street, just south of Greenfield Avenue.
After starting the fire, the youth ran away. Kamloops Fire Rescue extinguished the fire. The fire was contained to the grass along the sidewalk and there was no damage to other property.
The teen is described as wearing a black baseball cap, black tank top, grey sweatpants and carrying a black backpack.
“Fire season has started,” states Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. “Any spark, whether intentional or not, can cause extreme damage to property and endanger the lives of people and animals. Everyone should be extremely careful and report any suspicious activity.”
If you can identify the suspect youth, contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
