TNRD – Pinantan Lake fire brigade receives $15,000 volunteerism boost

PINANTAN – The Pinantan Lake fire brigade’s budget $15,000 to the good thanks to brigade member Rikki Ashley and her employer, Corix Utilities Canada.

Rikki submitted an entry for the company’s employee volunteerism award on behalf of the Pinantan Lake Fire Association and was one of two award winners in the Corix volunteerism program.

Corix Utilities Canada president Rick McCallum presented the cheque to members of the fire brigade Wednesday evening (May 1, 2019) at the Pinantan community park. Rikki said she was “very excited and honoured” to receive the award and to be able to direct it to the fire brigade, in which she’s been active for several years.

I was pleased to attend the presentation on behalf of Electoral Area P. The brigade does fantastic work protecting the community against the threat of both structural and interface fires. It receives no government or tax support, and relies totally on its own fundraising and corporate donations.

Congratulations, Rikki!
