POLICE – Westsyde Road re-opened after being closed overnight by accident
UPDATE: RCMP say the crash on Westsyde Road at McQueen Drive on Sunday night involved a Toyota Corolla that was travelling southbound when it crossed the centre line and struck a Hyundai Elantra travelling northbound.
There was one person in the Toyota, two people in the Hyundai. Occupants of both vehicles were taken to RIH. The passenger in the Hyundai has critical injuries.
Westsyde Road was closed in the area until 4 a.m. A detour was in place.
Police say witnesses report that, just previous to the collision, the Toyota was driving erratically. Impaired driving is believed to have been a contributing factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
EARLIER STORY: Westsyde Road was re-opened early today after a two-vehicle crash closed it for several hours Sunday night (Feb. 24, 2019).
Three people had been taken to Royal Inland Hospital, two with serious injuries after the accident, which happened about 7:30 p.m. All are Kamloops residents.
Traffic was re-routed through Batchelor Heights during the closure.
Kamloops RCMP reminded drivers to use caution when driving in the area as the roadway had to be cleaned.
During the investigation another vehicle failed to obey the flag people and the RCMP members but eventually was stopped and ended up with a 90-day roadside prohibition.

Westside Road closed by accident? Are you sure it was closed by accident? Perhaps it was intentional? Should read by an accident.

Good one, thanks. Shows that headline writers need to be careful which words they omit in the interests of making headlines fit.
