POLICE – Tear gas used in early morning arrest of man in Robson Place home

A domestic dispute caused some tense hours early today (Feb. 17, 2019) in the 2000 block of Robson Place.

S/Sgt Edward Preto said Kamloops RCMP responded to a residence shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday. A man came out of the home with what appeared to be a black handgun but went back inside and closed the door when challenged by police.

Preto said the man refused to surrender despite negotiations by telephone.

The Emergency Response Team was activated in the early morning hours today and arrived on the scene.  Tear gas was deployed and the 59-year-old man exited the home and was taken into custody. Police recovered several air pistols from the residence.

The scene was released and nearby residents were able to return to their homes.
