WHAT’S UP DOWNTOWN – A Year in Review and a Merry Christmas to You!
WE’VE BEEN AT the peak of the holiday season in Downtown Kamloops. From people taking part in the season’s festivities and events to last minute gift shopping to folks enjoying a stroll along the Rivers Trail with family and Friends, Downtown Kamloops has been full of excitement. Of course, the more temperate weather we’re experiencing doesn’t hurt.
As we reflect on the holiday season, we also reflect on the last 12 months in the heart of our city. The CAP Team had a successful year acting as ambassadors for both safety-social and Kamloops tourism.
The CAP Team has cleaned up 1,457 needles off the streets. And another 1,874 safety hazards were collected and disposed of properly. The team contacted law enforcement 128 times throughout the year regarding incidents that needed their intervention.
The CAP Team has participated in the organization and execution of numerous successful events in Downtown Kamloops. Most recently, the 38th Annual Santa Claus Parade and latest instalment in the Block Party Series — the Fulton & Company LLP Welcome Winter Block Party.
In addition to events, the CAP Team assisted many tourists/citizens and contacted members of Downtown Kamloops 2216 times. Whether questions are related to attractions downtown, local events, or something safety related, the CAP Team is proud to be able to help.
Overall, 2018 was another great year for the CAP Team, and we would like to extend a thank you to the visitors, locals, employees, and business owners alike that we had the pleasure of interacting with over the year from the bottom of our hearts. The CAP Team is on holiday from Dec. 23 to Jan. 3 but will be back in the New Year refreshed and ready get right back on track to make 2019 an even greater success.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our family to yours!
