CIVIC ELECTION – Oct. 15 candidates’ forum to focus on seniors’ issues
Voters will get another chance to listen to civic election candidates in Kamloops at a forum Monday, Oct. 15 in Desert Gardens.
Organizer Nancy Bepple, a former City councillor, said the event will focus on seniors’ issues but the general public is welcome.
It will get underway at 12 noon and run until 1:30 p.m.
“I have organized the seniors’ forum for the past three elections, and it only seemed right to have one again,” Bepple said in a media release.
“I know there are many other forums, but none are during the day. It’s important, especially for many seniors, who can’t get out at night.”
All mayoral and council candidates are invited to participate, she said. Candidates will be asked to introduce themselves as well as answer questions from the floor.
Everyone is welcome to the forum, and seniors are especially encouraged to attend, Bepple said. The room is wheelchair accessible and within a few blocks of most bus routes. Desert Gardens is on Seymour Street.
The civic election is Oct. 20. For more information on the forum, contact Bepple at 250-319-2500 or nancy.bepple@gmail.com.
