POLICE – Eight taken to hospital after single-vehicle rollover on Coquihalla
Eight people were taken to hospital Saturday night (June 30, 2018) after a single-vehicle rollover a kilometre south of Inks Lake Road on the Coquihalla.
Members of the Kamloops RCMP, BC Ambulance and Kamloops Fire Rescue were called to the scene at 9:38 p.m.
Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk said today a northbound vehicle lost control and rolled into the median of the highway. There were eight people in the vehicle and several were injured. He said medical treatment was provided on the scene by passers-by and by BC Ambulance personnel. Eventually, all eight occupants were taken to hospital.
Highway 5 southbound lanes were temporarily closed but were opened to single-lane traffic within a short time. Traffic remained single lane both southbound and northbound for several hours while a collision reconstructionist investigated the scene.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by Central Interior Traffic Services in conjunction with an RCMP collision reconstructionist.
