KAMLOOPS PRIDE – Looking for volunteers for 2nd annual event
Kamloops Pride is looking for volunteers for the 2nd Annual Kamloops Pride Week and Parade in August.
“We are an entirely volunteer-run non-profit and recognize the vital role volunteers play in any event,” said Kamloops Pride President Kirstin McLaughlin, adding that “we hope members of the community who attended any of our events last year and felt compelled to get more involved will consider applying to be a volunteer.”
Those who are interested are asked to complete a new volunteer application found on Kamloops Pride’s website. While specific roles and tasks will not be assigned until closer to the event, McLaughlin said the organization is hoping to build a database of volunteers to call on.
“Last year we had volunteers help with everything from making rainbow lapel pins to taking tickets at events and cleaning up after the parade. There will be jobs both big and small for everyone,” she said.
In addition to volunteers, Kamloops Pride is also asking area performers of all styles, ages and backgrounds to submit applications to fill a select number of performance slots throughout the week of Aug. 20-26, including the mainstage at the parade on Sunday.
“We wanted to enhance the festival atmosphere in Riverside Park this year and incorporating a few local performers is a great way to do that,” said McLaughlin. Interested performers are asked to complete and submit an application found on the website.
