Seven Kamloops residents were honoured at the annual Exemplary Service Awards on Monday night (April 16, 2018) for their service to the city.

Sam Numsen, Maureen McCurdy, Supt. Brad Mueller, Sean Pitts, Terry-Lynn Stone and Dale Sturge were presented with Exemplary Service awards for their leadership in fields ranging from health care to sports and policing.

Laura Kalina received the Pioneer Spirit Award for her many years of work on food security. The award, a miniature of the Overlanders statue in front of City Hall, was created in 2003 for citizens who have gone above and beyond.

The award is presented only occasionally, and this year is the first time it’s been given since 2014.

Mayor Ken Christian presided at the ceremony.
