POLICE – Body found in river confirmed as that of missing woman

Car of missing woman was found near Lafarge Bridge in February.

Kamloops RCMP have confirmed the identity of the body that was extracted from the South Thompson River on Wednesday, April 4.

Thelma Vaughan.

The body has been identified as that of Thelma Vaughan, 62, whose vehicle was found abandoned Feb. 7 near the Lafarge Bridge.  The vehicle had been parked there since at least Feb. 3.

When Vaughan could not be immediately located, an extensive investigation was undertaken which included search efforts by the Kamloops RCMP, Kamloops Search and Rescue and family members.

At this stage of the investigative, police do not believe that a criminal offence occurred.  RCMP continue to assist the BC Coroners Service with their investigation.
